9 Ways PEAK Is Helping Us Run A Marathon

Gold Coast Marathon

Our friends at PEAK Sports and Spine Centre are encouraging people in the local community and beyond to join their team on 1st July 2018 for the Gold Coast Marathon.

And guess who's getting involved from the Hawthorne Clinic team?

Dr Carmen Main and Caleb from the team will both be running this year so be sure to give them a cheer and your support as they begin their training.


We'll be updating you via our Facebook page in the coming weeks on their training progress and of course sharing their experience and results on the day.

We hope you'll join us in wishing them the best for this exciting, and slightly daunting, physical and mental challenge.


Participants looking to join the PEAK team can take part in either:

  1. Half Marathon ($150*)

  2. Full Marathon ($185*)

Of course, the complete, special 40th edition of the Gold Coast Marathon is being held from Saturday 30 June – Sunday 1 July 2018 and consists of eight races including:

  • Gold Coast Marathon

  • Wheelchair Marathon

  • ASICS Half Marathon

  • Wheelchair 15km

  • Southern Cross University 10km Run

  • Gold Coast Airport Fun Run

  • Garmin 4km Junior Dash and,

  • Garmin 2km Junior Dash


Whether you’re a first-time marathon runner or a more experienced runner wanting to improve your personal best time – the team at PEAK has the tools to help you out of your comfort zone and across the finish line.

PEAK founder Matt Stewart and physio Blane Delbridge will be embarking on the toughest challenge of their lives, an iron-distance triathlon as part of the Maxing Out Challenge, all to help raise awareness and funds for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This day will help raise money for 4ASDkids, with discounted treatment sessions, guest speakers (Ash Bradnam, Ben Hannant and Chloe Maxwell), Free seminars, BBQ, Jumping Castle and more! TIMETABLE: 7am - 1pm: Discounted Treatment Sessions (all proceeds to 4ASDkids) 6:30am: FREE Group Run 8:15am: FREE mobility circuit (Bring your own mat/towel!) 9am: FREE Kombucha demonstration 9am-11am: Ash Bradnam, Ben Hannant and Chloe Maxwell train for the Maxing Out Challenge 10am: Listen to 91yo World Masters Gold Medallist Joan Solago 10:30am: Hear how Matthew Eckford, a father with no running experience became an Australian Ultra-endurance runner 11:30am: Q&A with Guest Speakers Ash, Ben and Chloe 1pm: PEAK's HEAD SHAVE
